Random Post

My sis likes SS501’s “UR Man”. Yay! Spread the love for SS501! =D

*Cough* Okay that was random…

I’m flying off next Tuesday at 1am in the morning… the start of my holiday, all the way till 28th June.  2 weeks of rest and rejuvenation… yet why am I feeling so lethargic…?

I’m totally not in the holiday mood at all.  Sigh…  I guess it’s just a mix of all factors:  the recent incident that happened in my office, the fact that I’m transiting in Osaka (which is in the list of  H1N1 affected countries by WHO), and the fact that I’m gonna have my 大姨妈 during my two weeks of vacation.  Bleh, the last one is the killer of all. >_>;  But I guess I’ll need to deal with it… I just hope that it will not come during the weekend when we are spending at the summer cottage.  That will be bad because they don’t even have a tap/flushing system… Everything is “kampung” style, you know?

Sigh…

Can someone tell me if 5 face masks are gonna be enough >_>?  Can I still wear back the mask after I take it down to eat my meals?  I wanna force Reko to wear one too, but I think he’ll rather I kill him before he’d wear one… -_-;  He kept thinking that I’m over-reacting… when everyone around me says that they support me in preparing the masks and anti-bacterial wipes for the trip.

It’s not like I have 4 months of holiday like him… I can’t really afford to get sick or quarantined when I have to haul my ass back to work asap.

Bah.  It’s so hard to work up a holiday mood now…

Recession Hits Home…

Today my company held a first wave of “termination exercise”. Quite a number of employees were terminated on the spot.

Our department was thankfully spared this time… though I doubt we would be lucky again for the next round.

Wonder when will that be…?

Sigh, this really spoils my holiday mood…

Busy… With New Drama and New Idol

Uh huh, there you have it.  I am busy.

Busy with what, you ask?  I’m busy with… watching Boys Over Flowers (Korean version).  Ha ha ha!

Okay well, I’ve already finished watching them.  I was busy for the last few weeks ripping and converting my Limited Edition Boys Over Flowers DVDs (Korea version, published by KBS, bought from Yesasia.com) into .mp4 format so that I can save them into my iPod Touch for my upcoming Finland trip.

The English subtitles, sadly, was not up to par.  I’ve first watched the episodes online with Chinese subtitles, and I think the Chinese subtitles are a lot more accurate and detailed compared to the official English ones.  In the end, after spending weeks to rip and convert the DVDs, now I’m downloading the YouTube episodes for my iPod Touch.  Haha!  Still, I’m gonna leave the NG scenes, Making Of and the Outtakes in my iPod Touch though.  Those are exclusive (kinda?) footage that’s only available via the Limited Edition DVDs.

And after watching the Korean version of Boys Over Flowers, guess what?  I’m now crazy over one of the main actors, Kim Hyun Joong.  Maybe it was because of his character in the drama, maybe it was because he was talented (in music, not in acting), maybe because he was so cute and charming, maybe because he was so… four-dimensional with his answers during interviews.  I don’t know.  LOL.

Let’s see.  This guy can sing very well, can play the guitar quite well, can play the piano very well, and he’s the leader of the KPOP band SS501.  Did I mention that SS501 consists of five members, and all of them could sing really well?  Yes, ALL of them can sing very well.  They are not just a pretty boy band.

I’m totally in love with their recent songs, even though I don’t know a single bit of Korean.  That’s what international music is all about, right >_>?  Anyway, SS501 recently had released an album titled “Special Project”, because two of the members (including my idol) were too busy with their separate projects, and the other three decided to release a special album, kinda.  The songs are really good! I particularly love the song “U R Man”.  It’s really catchy, and it grows on you after a while.

Also, one song that you can’t miss was the ending song (EP) for Boys Over Flowers – Because I’m Stupid by SS501 (the three members team).  It was (I’m assuming) kinda like Ji Hoo’s (the character that Kim Hyun Joong played) theme song.  There are three versions of this song – the original song (that carries a light beat), the instrumental slow ballad version (that you can see/hear Kim Hyun Joong play on the violin or on the guitar in the drama), as well as the accoustic version (slow ballad version with Kim Hyun Joong singing).  This is, by far, my favourite song from Boys Over Flowers OST.  Simply because the lyrics just fit his character Yoon Ji Hoo so much.  *Sigh*…

I’ll fawn over his character in the drama some other time.  Let’s just leave you with these two songs for now!

SS501 – Because I’m Stupid (MP3 Only)

*EDIT*
Ahhh!!!! Found this cut version of Episode 15~16 where the drama played Kim Hyun Joong’s solo ballad version of “I’m Stupid”! It may be kinda like a spoiler for you if you haven’t watch the drama, but I think Ji Hoo/Kim Hyun Joong’s fan would love this. I just can’t help but teared a little bit whenever I read the translation of the lyrics of this song. It just fits Ji Hoo so much… T_T

MuMuHug (姆姆抱) Plushie

I finally got my MuMuHug!  MuMu has been very popular these days ever since he appeared in the drama serial <<爱就宅一起>>.  I wasn’t able to find it in Singapore, and only managed to order it from one of the online blogshops.  Well I bought the “smaller” 35cm version (the one Jiro had in the drama was the 70cm version), and it’s worth every bit of money that I paid!!

Here’s me and my MuMu!

Blood – The Last Vampire

I’ve heard of this from a year ago.  The original classic cult manga-turned-animated movie (or was it the other way round??) will be turned into a Hollywood movie with real actors this time, and a Korean actress will be casted as Saya.

Now, I must confess that I did not watch the original Blood The Last Vampire animated movie.  But I did watch the Blood+ series (anime and manga), and I like the story very much.  (Probably because the anime was very emo… so emo that I couldn’t really take it at some parts, haha!)

So I must say, last year when I first heard of this news, I was quite upset because usually manga-turned-movie (with real actors) are bad, apart from Death Note.  I mean, Initial D was bad.  DragonBall Z was… not even bearable?  Then comes Blood.

I watched the trailer on its website and I think… it doesn’t look half bad.  The Korean actress who was casted as Saya was Jeong Ji-Hyun (the actress in My Sassy Girl – 我的野蛮女友), and I’m surprised that her English doesn’t really make me cringe.  At some parts of the trailers, she actually did have a few facial expressions that portrayed Saya’s internal conflict (the eternal question of whether she’s a human or not).  It’s really a pleasant surprise because it’s an emotion that’s not easy to portray with just facial expressions.  Okay, maybe because I know what was going on in Saya’s mind all the time, but still, I think the actress is good.

Of course, trailers always look interesting.  I mean, look at the trailer of The Da Vinci Code.  It looked so action-packed, so intense, but the movie itself… errrrrrr…..  well, I’m not saying the movie was not good, but it’s totally not what you expect based on watching the trailer.  Of course, Reko has his doubts when it comes to such movies (i.e. movies based on video games/anime/manga), but he had promised to watch it with me if and when this movie is released here.

I’m really hoping that some film distributor will bring this movie in… I want to watch!

For the official (kinda) sypnosis, please click here.  They have an exclusive trailer there as well.

Google Chrome > Safari

The title says it all.

I’ve uninstalled Safari a couple of days back, because I realised that it actually lagged my PC whenever I tabbed to my MSN window or some other programs.  After that, I’ve been wanting to try out Google Chrome, as Steph had greatly recommended it in her blog, as well as in her comments to my posts.

So I did.  For some reason, Chrome did not want to be installed in my PC at Reko’s place, so I came back home and try it on this PC instead, and it works!  That’s a little weird, because my PC over at his place is almost ten times better than this old one… Oh well anyway, I find Chrome really loads faster than Firefox!  That’s quite a feat to me because I thought Firefox was already fast enough.

So far, Stephie was right on all counts regarding Chrome.  It was not buggy (even though I had read in some forums that it was) at all; it loads very fast; it actually imports browsing history from my Firefox (which is a plus, because Safari did not have this function), as well as saved passwords (ditto for Safari again).  The only thing I found similar between Chrome and Safari is the browser appearance.  It’s disconcertingly the same, with the Controls and Options at the right end of the address bar.  Even the icons look eerily the same.  Chrome also had the same “Most visited pages” screen, but I must say Safari had a better look, feel and layout.  Chrome felt a little… amateurish.

But then again, Apple is known for their sophisticated design anyway.  I’m hardly on that “Most visited pages” screen, so I guess it didn’t really matter.

I think I’ll try out the Chrome for a while more (just like I did with Safari), before deciding whether to make the switch.  XD

Thanks to Steph for the recommendation!

Special Day…?

Today was special.

Reko and I had booked tickets for the Wolverine movie a couple of days ago, and I had told him last night to meet at the bus interchange at around 9am today.  To my big surprise, he gave me a call at 8.30am (plenty of calls, actually, but I missed all of them as I was washing up) and told me that he was already standing outside my door.  I was like, “What?!”  And his reaction was, “Yeah, I came to pick you up!”

Well, I think I was so shocked that I went “What?!” for almost three times, before it registered in my head that he’s standing foolishly right outside the door.  I quickly got my keys and invited him in (and I was still in my sleeping clothes too).

After I got changed, it was around 8.45am.  The movie was actually at 12.40pm, but we had wanted to have brunch at Marche, which would start from 10am.  Reko hailed a cab and whisked me off to Vivocity, so that we could have each have a cup of coffee before breakfast.  It was a very nice experience, sitting at Coffeebean, sipping our skinny Cafe Latte, enjoying the rare sight of an empty (and dark – since most of the shops were still closed) Vivocity, and making some small talk about making art, drawing anatomy, swine flu, etc etc.

And then we went ahead as planned, to Marche, then movies.  After the movie, we grabbed an early dinner before heading back home.

Well, it might seem like a pretty normal date, but to me it’s really special.  Because it’s been a long time since we last had such a “date”, and where he’s especially attentive to me, and I never got upset at him  for the whole day, not even once.  (Now, that’s rare!)  Not to mention the fact that he had never came voluntarily to pick me up for dates.  XD So yeah, this is the first time that he had done that, and I’m very touched (and surprised, at the same time ^^).

Thank you dearie, for I had such a wonderful day with you today.  ^_^

PMS…?

I guess it’s that time of the month again…

I barely scraped through this week… Today was also the last day of Reko’s semester.  After he slogged his ass through the whole semester, I thought he had wanted to celebrate.  I even brought forward the dinner I had with my girlfriends to last evening, so that I can free myself for tonight.

Even though I was extremely tired, I was still quite excited about seeing him tonight for dinner because we hardly see each other nowadays, even on weekends.  Hence, when I sms-ed him to ask if we are having dinner together, I didn’t quite expect him to say he would be having dinner with his classmates instead…  simply because he usually wasn’t quite keen on such social activities, and he didn’t seem quite impressed with his classmates all along either.

It’s not like its their last day together as a class or anything like that, but… oh well.  I guess it’s good for him to mingle around socially… I can’t really stop him from going, anyway.

I sat in my office desk at 6pm, staring blankly at the monitor, too tired to even drag myself home, especially all the packing that we had done after lunch.  And when I finally did managed to drag myself out of the office, I felt so terribly lonely.

It’s weird, because I’m usually a loner.  I don’t mind being alone.  I didn’t mind today, either.  But the feeling was just … different.  Even when I know technically I’m not alone, I still have my parents, my sis and Reko… but I can’t really shake off the feeling that I’m alone.

I trudged my way through Citylink, wondering if I should head home.  In the end, I decided to make my way to the new shopping mall, Tampines One, instead.  I had wanted to go there since it opened, but Reko just didn’t seem keen to go with me, because he hated crowds.  So do I, but I like going to new malls just to take a look, even if they have the exact same shops as all other malls.  Since he’s enjoying himself over dinner with his classmates, I guess I could go to that new mall alone…

It wasn’t as crowded as I had expected, but the shops there were nothing different from the malls in Orchard Road, really.  I finished exploring the whole mall in about 30 minutes… after that, I just went straight home.  I didn’t really wanna spend my time at a busy place where I see couples or groups of friends together all the time.  Perhaps I was the only one alone there…

Maybe it’s just me having my monthly bout of PMS…

Just read in today’s newspapers that there’s a new kind of pills just for women who suffer from PMS.  You have to eat the pills for 24 days a month, and some women claimed that it worked, and they didn’t felt so emotional or depressed anymore.  Though, the side effects were similar to those of oral contraceptives – nausea and slight bleeding.

Wonder if I should get these pills prescribed… I don’t usually like to eat pills as a daily routine, but if this PMS is really affecting my moods and the people around me, maybe I should…
