10 days to Shanghai!

First solo trip to China… this is quite surreal. I always thought my very first true solo trip will be to Japan, since I’m already so familiar with that country.

Who would have thought – my first true solo trip is actually to China.

A country which, 20 years ago, I vehemently refused to even consider travelling to.

Throughout the years, I put aside my prejudice, willingly reach out online to get to know more Chinese nationals, and I came to realise they are not all bad. Well mannered people are everywhere, even in China. Just that China is just way too huge, with a population way too large, that even a 10% of bad/ill mannered people would mean a whole lot when it comes to actual figures.

That doesn’t mean I had no qualms visiting the country. I’ve already still mentally prepared to encounter smokers at every possible corner. Dirty toilet bowls even in malls. Queue cutting people wherever I go.

I’m not saying I’d definitely encounter these incidents. I’m just mentally preparing myself so that I can control my temper if and when these really happen. It’s within my expectations anyway. If all these did not happen to me on the trip, then yay, the trip would be all the more enjoyable.

The weather is another point to lament. Typhoons are coming and going. I can only pray typhoons won’t come when I’m about to fly, when I’m there, or when I’m flying back home. I’m hoping the weather won’t be as hot as I’m mentally preparing myself it being.

Covid is another worrying concern. Covid is sprouting everywhere, including here in Singapore and there in China. Of course I’d be wearing a mask in enclosed crowded area (especially in the stadium), I’m just hoping I won’t catch it when I have my mask down (for eg. when dining).

And… I haven’t pack my luggage! Guess I’ll bring out my luggage this Sunday and start packing. I’ll be heading to Jason’s salon for hair dyeing and treatment on Saturday… which is the second day of my period too. Sigh I feel apprehensive just about this… because I need to change pad every 2 hours. Damn…
