I have been a cake person since like, two years back. \u00a0I have no idea what constitutes to the sudden love for cakes, but yeah I pretty much love cream cakes now. \u00a0And that B just had to tempt me yesterday with photos of one of my favourite cake shops in SG – Pine Garden’s at AMK. \u00a0He was like, asking me to choose what flavour I would have ordered, so that he can try them and let me know if it’s nice. \u00a0I was like “B you are so evilllllllllllllll” but I still indulge him and picked a few flavours that I would have tried. \u00a0Then… he went home and ate the one which I didn’t pick, and he said he would have the others some other day. \u00a0I was almost rolling my eyes at that time but ok, never mind. \u00a0He’s always teasing me anyway.<\/p>\n

And so.<\/p>\n

I went to SNEC for my eye review today. \u00a0And I was supposed to meet B for lunch at Stranger’s Reunion after my appointment as he was supposed to meet a client there. \u00a0I was on my way to SNEC when we were whatsapping with each other… and he said his client is in one of the buildings in SGH. \u00a0So okay, I didn’t really go think too much about it. \u00a0He seems to have clients everywhere anyway.<\/p>\n

And then he suddenly ask “So what if I\u00a0show up and accompany you (wait), how would you feel?”<\/p>\n

Me: \u00a0“Haha will feel weird, I’m too used to being alone when going for appointments lol”<\/p>\n

Him: “O, haha.”<\/p>\n

And then he appeared in front of me. \u00a0=_= \u00a0I was like “O_O”, then he passed me the cakes. \u00a0The cakes that I chose yesterday. \u00a0At that very second, I was like “B lied and tricked me!”, but then again how can I stay mad when he did that just to give me a surprise? \u00a0And with my cakes too?! \u00a0I was still pretty much stunned to say anything, and I still thought he was going to meet his client. \u00a0But wait… his clothings were too casual…<\/p>\n

So I asked “You not meeting your client??”<\/p>\n

Then he said, “My client is you lor. \u00a0I took leave today to accompany you.”<\/p>\n

Awwwwwwwwww…. that’s so nice of you, B! \u00a0Thanks a lot. \u00a0:3 \u00a0I was still way too stunned to say anything (this certainly never happened to me before lol) when the nurse called me to take the eye test. \u00a0And while we were waiting for my specialist to come, we started feasting on the cakes!!<\/p>\n

Verdict: Hazelnut Chocolate Crunch is not too bad. \u00a0Quite nice, I’d say. \u00a0The “crunch” comes from the Cocopops (I assume) hidden amongst the chocolate sponge~. Blackforest was a tad disappointing for me (surprisingly Prima Deli’s Blackforest is still one of the better ones I’ve tried). \u00a0Sea Salt Caramel was much love!!! \u00a0I like the salty sweet combination and that slice of swiss roll had A LOT of cream! \u00a0YUM!<\/p>\n

B helped me with them as well as I wasn’t able to finish all of them (still need to save some space for waffles and lunch and all that!).<\/p>\n

The eye review that came after our cake feast gave me some pretty bad news. \u00a0The old spots on my left cornea are not going away, and there are new ones showing up. \u00a0Doc didn’t wanna risk having scarring on my cornea, so she decided to put me on steroids and cyclosporin again. \u00a0For 3 months. \u00a0Sigh…<\/p>\n

Well anyway, after I collected the eye drops, B then brought me to SR! \u00a0He ordered their most popular “Magic” coffee (Yes they really call it Magic), whereas I took the usual latte, and we shared a warm waffles with vanilla bean ice cream and some fresh fruits. \u00a0I took a couple of sips of Magic, and decided it’s slightly too bitter for my taste lol. \u00a0Their latte is all right, but I definitely preferred Jewel’s! \u00a0Their waffles is AWESOME though. \u00a0Their vanilla bean ice cream goes REALLY WELL with the waffles! \u00a0One of the best waffles I’ve had in a while!<\/p>\n

After which, we moved on to lunch! \u00a0(I’m really gonna get so fat now!) \u00a0And it’s really healthy stuff at Raffles Place this time! \u00a0This is something which B had wanted to try ever since a fellow forum member posted about this place called Project Paleo<\/a>. \u00a0You can even choose the level of salt that you want in your meal! \u00a0I picked Shrimps & Squids with mushrooms and sauteed greens as sides, and he chose Oregano Chicken with cauliflower rice and broccoli & carrots as sides.<\/p>\n

My shrimps & Squids. \u00a0Very nice! \u00a0B helped me asked for 50% salt level, which is still pretty all right for me. \u00a0The squid rings are really fresh, and they have a natural sweetness, chewy but yet breaks when you bite. \u00a0Just really, really fresh squids. The tiger prawns\u00a0are fat, juicy, and also absolutely fresh. \u00a0They are just a tad too salty for me, but still ain’t too bad. \u00a0Mushrooms are yummy (I love mushrooms anyway!), and the sauteed greens are crunchy, but not raw. They have just the right crunch to it, without being overcooked. Top notched cooking!<\/p>\n

B’s Oregano Chicken! \u00a0His dish was ZERO salt, but the chicken was still surprisingly delightful. \u00a0Juicy, tender, and I guess it was well marinated because it was very flavourful as well, despite having no salt. \u00a0I’m not a great fan of that cauliflower rice, but the broccoli & carrots were cooked soft!!! \u00a0Dammit, if I knew they’d be soft, I’d have ordered the broccoli and carrots as sides as well!<\/p>\n

And the overall cost isn’t too bad, though it’s definitely not something you can eat everyday coz it can get a little too heavy on the wallet. \u00a0But perhaps once a week is good? \u00a0Mine only cost $12, while his cost only $10. \u00a0And it’s really filling. \u00a0At least I felt full all the way till dinner lol.<\/p>\n

After lunch, we went to KTV, coz I wanna sing my heart out before my overseas work trip. \u00a0God knows how long I have to stay overseas this time, so I better get my singing craving fixed before the trip. \u00a0:( \u00a0But it was my first time singing in front of B! \u00a0It was so nervewrecking and embarrassing at the same time lol. \u00a0Good thing he was looking at his phone most of the time, so I got a little more relaxed after awhile. \u00a0=X \u00a0His girl (sorry B, I know what you said about you and her, but I would still refer her as your girl lol!) came over to meet us, and she took over the singing (thankfully!) for me as I almost very nearly lost my voice, haha! \u00a0We went for dinner together (but she didn’t eat anything as she was still full from her lunch), and for the first time I witnessed the sizzling chemistry between them. \u00a0Seeing the two of them chatting back and forth, well I’d say it’s an eye opener for me! \u00a0I’ve probably never really seen any two person\u00a0being SO comfortable being in each other’s presence. \u00a0What a pity that these two lovely people are not together… Despite what B kept insisting, I’m still crossing my fingers for these two. \u00a0The chemistry is really… wooh. \u00a0I felt like a lightbulb there, honestly! \u00a0XD<\/p>\n

So well, that’s what happened today! \u00a0Thanks for the lovely surprise, B, and thanks for taking time off from work to accompany me. \u00a0I’m really glad to have a buddy like you. \u00a0^_^<\/p>\n
