{"id":1591,"date":"2016-09-05T09:59:35","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T01:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sanity-asylum.net\/blog\/?p=1591"},"modified":"2016-09-13T13:45:26","modified_gmt":"2016-09-13T05:45:26","slug":"updates-and-then-some","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sanity-asylum.net\/blog\/2016\/09\/05\/updates-and-then-some\/","title":{"rendered":"Updates.. and then some"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Japan Trip<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Went to JTB last Thursday to book for the Tokyo accommodation, so that we can ask them to help us buy the Ghibli Museum tickets. \u00a0But you know what? \u00a0They are marking up the accommodation prices by almost 50%. \u00a0Like, erm, really? \u00a0A room for 3 nights &#8211; I can get from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.japanican.com\" target=\"_blank\">Japanican.com<\/a> at SGD800+, but they are charging me SGD1,400+. \u00a0Like, wow. \u00a0Literally wow. \u00a0We decided to not go for it, and give up on the hope of going to Ghibli Museum (this time, we&#8217;ll get there eventually!). \u00a0So I&#8217;ve booked the hotel on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.japanican.com\" target=\"_blank\">Japanican.com<\/a> and now, waiting for certain dates to tie up the loose ends.<\/p>\n<p>Things left to do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remind Kyoto hotel to assist with application of visit permit to Kokedera<\/li>\n<li>Confirming Shirakawa-go accommodation with the ryokan on 1st October<\/li>\n<li>Book Nomi Bus for the Shirakawa-Go trip<\/li>\n<li>Change\u00a0enough YEN for the trip<\/li>\n<li>Double confirming the train timings so that we can purchase all the train tickets in advance at Narita Airport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hope everything will go smoothly as planned. *crosses fingers*<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Gaming<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>After the conclusion of The International 6, Dota 2 community is kinda in a lull right now. \u00a0Teams have been disbanded and rosters are in a disarray now. \u00a0There&#8217;s so many rumours going on that I&#8217;m kinda immune to all. \u00a0Now we are just waiting for official team line up announcements.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, I&#8217;m just playing World of Warcraft&#8217;s latest expansion: Legion. I&#8217;m levelling as a Discipline priest, which is surprisingly doable. \u00a0Yeah, granted I can&#8217;t heal much, it&#8217;s about just enough for solo play. \u00a0Most of the time I hardly need to heal myself. \u00a0At scenarios against level ?? bosses, the NPCs will help to heal me. \u00a0Whenever my HP goes to half, I&#8217;ll get healed and I just need to spend my mana on offensive spells. \u00a0And being a disc priest, there&#8217;s literally only 3 buttons to press for offensive spells: Smite, Purge the Wicked, and Penance. \u00a0That&#8217;s all, really. \u00a0It should be boring, but it isn&#8217;t really. \u00a0I played WoW for the whole day yesterday, and I didn&#8217;t really get any fatigue. I find it refreshing that now, quest rewards can randomly be upgraded. \u00a0A green reward item can randomly become a blue, or a blue item could get randomly upgraded to legendary when it dropped into your bag.<\/p>\n<p>Gathering professions in WoW have also been improved. \u00a0Nodes are shared (you don&#8217;t need to rush to get that herb and worry that it&#8217;ll be gone after someone got to it before you), and you can get random profession-related item on top of whatever you are gathering. \u00a0Take fishing, for example, I can get random fish which I could throw back to the water to get permanent 5 levels to my fishing skill. \u00a0Or I could get baits that could help me fish up even more unique fishes. \u00a0I&#8217;ve always quite like fishing, so I foresee I&#8217;ll be fishing pretty often in Legion. \u00a0Heh.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Misc<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jewel Coffee opened up a branch at Millenia Walk! \u00a0Yay! \u00a0Walking distance from my office to a good cuppa. \u00a0Starbucks is actually rubbish, now that more and more decent coffee connoisseur chains popped up. I think I might just stop drinking Starbucks once I&#8217;ve redeemed all the free drinks.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sistic.com.sg\/events\/frozen0916\" target=\"_blank\">Frozen Planet<\/a> in concert this Thursday! I&#8217;ve been waiting for it for two years. I&#8217;ve managed to procure 2 tickets and I&#8217;m gonna drag Bruno to go with me lol. \u00a0I think he&#8217;ll be napping halfway through though&#8230; :x<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve pledged for 2 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/257670560\/bobby-the-best-anti-theft-backpack-by-xd-design\/description\" target=\"_blank\">Bobby backpacks<\/a>\u00a0via Kickstarter, and have received them! \u00a0I think I -might- bring it for the Japan trip &#8211; but we&#8217;ll see how it goes.<\/p>\n<p>Sigh, now with the haze and dengue issue, we now have to worry about Zika. \u00a0And my block is just right outside the Zika cluster border at Bedok North Ave 3. \u00a0Insect repellents have sold out everywhere, but I&#8217;ve managed to order some online via Giant website, so hopefully I&#8217;ll be getting some OFF! insect repellent lotion later. \u00a0I&#8217;ve also bought an <a href=\"http:\/\/list.qoo10.sg\/item\/BEAUTIFUL-AROMATHERAPY-ELECTRIC-OIL-VAPORIZER-DIFFUSER-BURNER\/408944290?selectedOptions=;;;;;\" target=\"_blank\">essential oil burner<\/a> for my mom as she wants one in the living room, and the seller has offered it together with a free essential oil, so I chose Lemongrass (naturally) to repel the insects. \u00a0Not sure when I&#8217;ll be getting that&#8230; hopefully soon!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been repeating this song on youtube\/iTunes for quite a bit. \u00a0The lyrics are so sad&#8230; it tugs my heart strings everytime he sang &#8220;\u4f60\u9000\u534a\u6b65\u7684\u52a8\u4f5c\u8ba4\u771f\u7684\u5417?\u00a0\u5c0f\u5c0f\u7684\u52a8\u4f5c\u4f24\u5bb3\u8fd8\u90a3\u4e48\u5927&#8221;.
